Do all subject and other wiki pages have clear headings?
Do all subject and other wiki pages have clear artifacts and reflections, either on the page or linked from it?
Foundability (is there another way to describe this?)
Is the wiki portfolio linked clearly from the Secondary School BISS wiki index?
Does the wiki portfolio continue to have the student ID as it's name? eg s11222.biss.wikispaces.net, NOT jane.biss.wikispaces.net This is important - do not rename your wikis!

    Middle Years Programme (MYP)
Each year students will invite parents/guardians to school to share, discuss and celebrate their learning.
    Teacher handout/guidelines 2011-12 - {SLC 11-12 Information.docx}
    Student Led Conferences
All students in Grades 6-9 will prepare for Student Led Conferences (SLC) to be held in April each year. The aim of these conferences is for students to take greater responsibility for their learning, to promote communication between home, teachers and students, and to develop greater awareness of the Middle Years Programme. The teacher plays a minimal role on the actual day of the conference. Parents are given an appointment time and they come in to the home room (or other designated room) and sit with their son/daughter and discuss learning for 20-30 minutes. They are not meant to be having a meeting with any teachers as such. If they want to discuss anything with teachers it is usually expected they make another appointment on a different day. The home room teacher is on hand to facilitate movement and organisation of the day.
The SLC revolves around the digital portfolio (wiki), but is not exclusive to this medium. Students may also have hard copy material and projects on display to share with their parents. Students may also take their parents on a tour of the school (Art, DT etc) to share work that may be on display or in process.
Background and Information about preparing for Student Led Conferences
Teachers are encouraged to review the MYP wiki material re 'What does learning in the MYP look like at BISS?' in conjunction with these guidelines.
    Preparing Students for their SLC
Some home room time will be allocated for preparation for SLC sessions. Subject teachers also need to allocate some time in class to make sure artifacts and reflections are uploaded to wikis – at least 3 per subject. Students also need to create a SLC planning wiki page, information available from the Student Led Conference Planning Wiki
    Community and Service requirements
As part of the planning and organisation for SLC and for final assessment at each level of the MYP be aware of the expectations for C&S from each MYP student. Information about C&S is available on this wiki.
Make sure students have a link on their portfolio to a C&S page.
Three C&S items should be completed by the SLC in April, ready for final reporting in May/June.
Grade 9 and 10 should be using the full reflection template
Grade 6, 7 and 8 should have activities documented with a reflection or statement that discusses their involvement and learning. The 'What?', 'So What?' 'Now What?' model is always a useful one to use.

Planning the SL Conference with digital portfolios
Using online portfolios to present artifacts and reflections in real time is exciting and dynamic but can also be problematic. Here are some strategies to help make this a successful session for students and parents:
